The author, he is dead.
Has Mr. Blow responded yet? 'Cause you know he will, right? 'Cause I don't think those guys doing that review got the point.Or did they?To riff on Bobby's apposite comment:Mistah Blow. He dead. But that's not going to stop him from telling us what his work means, is it?Thanks, Iroquois!
Braid is mainstream!
That's... not a review. That's more real; it's word of mouth. I mean--I don't think they got the point, but does it matter? They were apparently have a wonderful time with it.Is it any surprise, really, that Braid + weed != Braid? I did find it interesting that he asserts there isn't any point to the game. Either he hasn't read the vignettes (in which case he should admit that there might be a point he's missing) or he's saying something that could be said about any game: All you do it wander around and [key game mechanic here].I guess it's also possible that he read the texts and they were incomprehensible to him. But if he was playing it high always, I bet he skipped them.
I couldn't possibly have suffered through those vignettes sober. The memory of a glass of wine... the flash of his lover's braid... gag me. If you get high enough, though, you can almost believe it's intentional self-parody. The anti-emetic properties of cannabis don't hurt either.
Admittedly a tangent, but Soulja Boy’s analysis seems like as good a time as any to share my Braid experience:In the midst of a real-life separation from my girlfriend of a few years, I played a lot of Braid. In the morning I’d have a cup of coffee, work on a few tricky puzzle pieces, and then head to work. When I returned in the evening I enacted a similar ritual. One night I awoke in an anxious panic. My dreaming self had planned to hold down the ‘x’ button and rewind our real-life relationship to a time when our underlying problems were fresh. Addressing them head-on would put them to rest before they could fester. Another part of myself chimed in that real life doesn’t actually have a rewind button. At this point, no more than an hour after going to bed, I awoke sweaty and feeling uneasy. I wandered out into the living room to calm down, accept the past, and watch another quietly slay Norse cyberpunk robots. The parallels between Braid’s themes and my experience are not lost on me.
For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.
Who wants a stylus. You have to get em and put em away, and you lose em. Yuck. Nobody wants a stylus.
It took us three years to build the NeXT computer. If we'd given customers what they said they wanted, we'd have built a computer they'd have been happy with a year after we spoke to them - not something they'd want now.
Failure is success if we learn from it.
And no, we don't know where it will lead. We just know there's something much bigger than any of us here.
We don't get a chance to do that many things, and every one should be really excellent. Because this is our life. Life is brief, and then you die, you know? So this is what we've chosen to do with our life.
Though beauty gives you a weird sense of entitlement, it's rather frightening and threatening to have others ascribe such importance to something you know you're just renting for a while.

The love of beauty in its multiple forms is the noblest gift of the human cerebrum.
The connections that you make early in your career will take you far. After 20 years it is still true for me. This has been true regarding companies I worked for and those I worked with. All you have written is excellent advice.
Hi, just wanted to say I attended this conference last year, and found it by far the best of about 8 conferences that I attended in the field. Full of professional insight based on testing by experts that knew what they were talking about. I would certain
